BARK toys – 100% happiness guaranteed
With 5 pooches in our household, it’s safe to say we have tried and tested almost every toy out there, but I’ll be honest, the pooches either seem to lose interest after a few hours, or they destroy them within minutes. I’ve always been underwhelmed with dog toys, and it always seemed the more durable they are, the more underwhelming and boring they look!
As if like magic, BARK came along and answered all my dog mum prayers, with an epic selection of toys for doggos of all different sizes and styles of play.
Of course, everyone knows about BARK, as they have been trail blazing in the USA for years, but it was news to me that such a great selection was available over here in the UK and we have picked the best of the bunch to shout about!
Now I’ve been a BARK mega fan for a long time and a few years ago I visited the states for work and managed to get a BarkBox delivered to my hotel to bring home to my pooches. I felt so accomplished that my dogs got to experience these toys, but also aware that I set their expectations so high, and no other toy brand will do!
So, you can only imagine how delighted I was when this box of BARK goodies landed on my doorstep. We flung it open and let the dogs dive straight in and each of them seemed to have a preference.
Starting with little YumYum, our wild baby Pug who loves to run, fetch and play. He went straight in for the Fruity tropical Trio, a multi-coloured, multi textured 6-part toy with crinkly outer shells and THREE tennis ball centres. YumYum couldn’t believe his luck and has been torn between playing fetch with his tennis balls or thrashing around and play bowing the crinkly crunchy plushie fruits!
Puggy is our beloved senior Pug, and since he became paralysed a few years ago is less inclined to play. So, we introduced him to the Sub-zero camping hero toy and naturally he loved it. It’s always hilaroius to see your pooch with his very own cool box of beers, but even better when its entirely safe and heaps of fun. The chill box outer toy is crinkly and crunchy, and the two removable squeaky beers are hilarious. We hide treats under each beer and close the lid which gives puggy hours of fun, gentle enrichment at his own pace as he snuffles, brunches and squeaks his way to the bottom of the chill box to locate his treat! Is
Speaking of treat hiding enrichment toys, our other senior pooch, our beautiful 13 year old dachshund Pops has never been one to play ever since I rescued her 10 years ago, but I was pleasantly surprised at her reaction to Andi’s famous dumplings – a 4 in one treat hiding spectacular complete with crinkly take out box and three squeaky little dumplings that are the perfect size her teeny tiny mouth and paws. She’s a big fan and you’ll even find Pops snuggled up in bed with her treasured dumpling trio!
Finally, we have Pomegranate and Brown Sugar, out two very rough playing rescue pooches. We have always struggled to find toys that they don’t destroy in minutes so believe me when I say I GASPED at these rip and reveal toys, Brrtha the Dragon and Penny the Pineapple. Penny the Pineapple is the only toy our spicy little Pomeranian has not completely shredded within an hour and even after a few days of incessant play, has still not managed to rip up the first later to discover the squeaky toy inside.
And finally, my absolute favourite from the best of BARK Super Chewer range - Brrtha the dragon, a vanilla ice cream scented rip and reveal toy. Lab tested for toughness and safety; this super fun dragon toy is the ideal size for tiny menaces like Sugar. This cute little squeaky dragon toy has flappy wings and a tail – perfect for fetching, tossing, thrashing and tug. As Sugar is an expert chewer, I didn’t have high hopes for this poor dragon, but I’m pleased to report it took her a good few days to tear through the top layer to reveal an ultra-durable natural rubber dragons’ egg inside which has since become her ultimate favourite ball to play fetch with.
We loved these so much I’ve already purchased a few more including Sugars current obsession – Consuela the Cactus.
I must admit I was probably as excited as the dogs with this incredible haul of dog toys, and I’m so impressed with the quality and attention to detail, not to mention how entertaining they are for both dogs and humans!
