When Houndstar of York decided they wanted to create bespoke winter coats for Puggy and Pops, we felt honoured and couldn’t wait to get started. We knew Houndstar of York garments were gorgeous, but we were not prepared for the exceptional service and quality that this company brought to the table.
These guys are different to any other dog clothing brand we have ever encountered, and that’s really saying something! They offer a completely premium, bespoke dog apparel service, from the comfort of your own home. With just three exciting parcels and the power of amazing customer service and communication, Houndstar of York knocked it clean out the park! And here’s how...

The first package arrived and it really set the bar high. To ensure each piece ordered is utterly perfect for your pooch, Houndstar send a full welcome pack and measuring kit. It came with a tape-measure and precise instructions for us to measure our dogs and we were then instructed to email the tailor with the final results. Of course, they threw in some Billy and Margot popcorn for the doggies while us humans were treated to some very naughty caramel truffles, its all these little touches that make is so special.

Two weeks later… package number two arrived at our door. Yet again, humans and hounds are all treated to some tasty snacks, and then things got interesting! Each dog had a sample pattern sent to them, which was made to measure in calico fabric. This was for us to try on the dogs to ensure the fit was perfect and we were able to let Houndstar of York know if there needed to be any changes or adjustments, so the final pieces would be as accurate as possible. It also came with sketches of the coat on each dog and fabric swatches of the trims, furs and tweed, so we could really start to see and feel what the finished pieces would be like and we were so excited! At this stage, if you are unhappy with the colour choice, want to change fabrics or make alterations, you simply let them know via email.

After making a few minor changes, Houndstar of York got straight to work yet again! And just a few weeks later, all our doggy fashion dreams for our weird shaped dogs came true!!!

We unboxed the coats and genuinely sat in silence for a few minutes, in awe of what had been sent to us. We were genuinely overwhelmed with just how incredible these jackets are. And if that wasn’t enough, they even threw in some extra fur collars for Pops to change up her look, a super stylish flat cap for Puggy and matching collar/lead combos to really finish off their looks perfectly! The collars and leads are available in standard sizing on their website, but of course, as with everything on their site, bespoke orders are very welcome.
Pops has four jackets in one, the jacket was sent with three interchangeable faux fur collars that can be attached, and of course, it looks hella chic with just the collar too, for those days that she wants something a little more low key. Puggy's coat is made with authentic Donegal tweed, handwoven in Ireland, and he also has a matching flat cap, which makes him look extra slick! The coats are fully fleece lined and they are very soft and warm. There are a few brass poppers, so the coat can be adjusted if they put on a few festive pounds or if they are wearing a jumper underneath. Every item comes with care instructions and spare buttons, yet another touch that shows the attention to detail this company brings.
The jackets are simply perfect In every way. Obviously, they fit better than anything else Puggy and Pops own as they were made to measure, but the general look and feel of the products is so luxurious and the tailoring is some of the best i've ever seen. I feel like we have all been utterly spoilt and we really cannot sing their praises any louder!
